My Vacation

Sorry about the lack of updates this week.  The kids are in Buffalo and I've  been busy!  What have I been doing, you ask?

Spring cleaning the house, reorganizing the kids' rooms, eating ice cream and waffles for dinner, getting things together for our trip to Georgia next week, sleeping in, watching movies, going TO the movie theater,

And the week isn't over yet!

Kindergarten Graduation

My little munchkins graduated from Kindergarten in the middle of June.  They each had ceremonies, complete with singing and certificates.  And, yes, we ordered their videos.  And I may have teared up to the point of needing a tissue as soon as I saw my little boy march on the stage.  Eli's graduation was first, of course, and the day before Amelia's so he declared himself a 1st grader first.  Silly kid :)

I am so proud of my hard working, sweet boy.  He's come so far in such a short amount of time.  What a blessing he is to us. 

Amelia's ceremony was next and, lo and behold, she sang a few of the same songs.  She really got in to the singing and the hand motions.  I think if my church had a choir I'd put her in it!  She was so good during the presentation, too.  There were 3 full day classes there...lots of kids and lots of distractions.  In fact, we had to remind her a few times not to put her certificate in her mouth.  Oy.  And the last picture is her amazing teacher.  She was awesome!

In that last month or so of school, I found out Amelia was eating in the lunch room again, instead of the office like I'd asked.  When they came to me again, I told them that I can't be there.  "I've given you the solution, you chose not to follow through.  You created the monster...you fix it!  What exactly do you expect me to do about it?!"  I hated to be that harsh, but when the principal isn't willing to do something as simple as letting a child who obviously can't handle the lunch room sit in the office so she doesn't go crazy and create all kinds of problems, you just have to let it go.  Needless to say, we aren't returning to that school.  And if it hadn't been for her amazing teacher, we wouldn't have stayed the entire year.  

Instead, we learned that the kids are both in the public montessori program next year!  I'm really excited to only have to be at one school.  And I knew the principal would be fantastic - except she was promoted so we have a new principal.  I hope he's good or we'll have to find something else!  And I would feel bad to switch Eli's IEP over to another school.  The kid has been through enough.  But we'll not let the cart get in front of the horse and take things one day at a time.

So now I have 6 and 7 year old 1st graders; and they haven't let me forget all summer long :)

June of Twos

June can be qualified as the month of twos.  The first two weeks we had two fairs (we only went to one), two field days and two graduations.  Fortunately all the events were on different days, so we were able to attend everything.  Phew!  I was a little worn out after all our events, but it was well worth it :)

Here are my rainbow animals after Eli's school fair.  They had a petting zoo and horses they could ride.

Dad and Eli went to an Indy Race on Belle Isle.  They had a blast!

And Amelia and I got to hang out for a couple days.

I find it much more entertaining to let my children dress themselves.

Eli's field day was first.  He was such a trooper, even though he wasn't as fast as his teammates.  

He was fine until the last event.  He was too tired to participate!

Amelia's events were the next day.    What a clown!

I love how much my kids love each other!  Best Buds.
