About Me

My photo
My husband and I, the Dynamic Duo, have been married since 2003. We've weathered the storm of chronic disease (diagnosis 2006), infertility (diagnosis 2007), turning 30 (2006/2007 respectively) a first adoption (2009) of a tender hearted, compassionate Ukrainian BIG boy (born 2006), who has told us he'd like a baby sister, baby brother, big brother, and REALLY big sister. We recently completed our second Ukrainian adoption journey, which brought us a daughter (born 2005). We'll see what else God brings our way!

Cake Frosting, Surprise!, and Partay...Eli Turns 5 Part 1

The first thing I needed to do was to bake the cake.  Easy.  Next I frosted it.  I think it turned out pretty good, although if I had to do it again, I wouldn't frost the whole thing white to start with.  I couldn't see the indentions to pipe!  I had to make it my own (and scrape off most of the white!).  It only took me an hour to frost and it was a messy blast.  Did I mention I made my own butter cream frosting?  And dyed it?

My mom came in for a few hours and surprised Eli as he was getting off the bus.  He squealed with delight!

He was excited about the balloons and all the Dinosaur Train gifts she bought him.   Especially this one who says "Head Butt!"  When you push his head down.  Eli laughs hysterically every time!

Eli knew exactly who these were from.  He even asked where Grandpa Stobie was, like "This is great and all, but I know my Grandpa would let me have these now."

We decided to have cake last night since we plan on going to IHOP tonight for smiley face chocolate pancakes tonight, followed by a trip to the toy store.  He LOVED his cake.

Don't know why, but he wanted Mickey's mouth...Strange child.  But he gulped it down, then we sent him outside to enjoy the sunny 60 degree weather we'll have for a few days.

The first thing Eli said to me this morning was "I'm 5, Mom!!"  Such a sweet boy.  I've been telling him how proud I am of his compassion and obedience.  Now all we have to do is work on him not saying "Oh, my God", which I'm assuming he picked up from school.  Sigh.  It's all a learning and guiding process.
