About Me

My photo
My husband and I, the Dynamic Duo, have been married since 2003. We've weathered the storm of chronic disease (diagnosis 2006), infertility (diagnosis 2007), turning 30 (2006/2007 respectively) a first adoption (2009) of a tender hearted, compassionate Ukrainian BIG boy (born 2006), who has told us he'd like a baby sister, baby brother, big brother, and REALLY big sister. We recently completed our second Ukrainian adoption journey, which brought us a daughter (born 2005). We'll see what else God brings our way!

Skipping off to the ER

Just another day in Moserville.  Eli woke up Monday with a fever, which is rare for him.  So I took him to urgent care Tuesday morning when his voice started sounding funny and he couldn't swallow without wincing, even with ibuprofen.  We arrived at 8:30am, saw the doctor, who said Eli is very dehydrated.  You should probably take him to the ER to get some IV fluids.  OK.

So off to the ER we went.  Of course, the entire time I'm sobbing and I'm sure I looked like a mess.  By this time he couldn't move his neck because his right side was in so much pain.

In the ER they ran all sorts of tests and collected all sorts of blood.  Not the flu, not strep.  After the CT scan of his neck, they realized he has an infection that was developing an abscess.  I don't really understand much of what they were telling us, but basically no surgery is needed at this point.

BUT we were admitted to the hospital and expect to be here for a few days for an IV antibiotic.  :(

Please pray for us...for emotional stability, for physical stamina...and for a quick recovery by Eli.  And no surgery!!

Eli has been keeping us in stitches.  One of his first comments when he was feeling better (while 3 nurses were hanging out with us) was "My dad is so cool."  We have NO idea where that came from.

And he keeps telling me "I love you."  And "You're the best mom in the whole world."  Can't beat that in the hospital!

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that Eli is struggling. It is a lot to juggle (physically and emotionally), but I hope you can keep finding the moments to strengthen your relationship. Praying for you and Eli.
